Job Details :
Senior Director of Product
Digital Commerce & Marketing Technology
Location: Schaumburg, IL (hybrid preferred: 3 days onsite)
Base salary: $190,000–$220,000
Bonus: 20–30% annual bonus opportunity
The Opportunity
I'm recruiting a Senior Director of Product for an established, growing consumer services company undertaking a significant transformation of its digital commerce, marketing technology, and customer experience capabilities.
This is an opportunity to own the product roadmap and execution across a business where digital customer acquisition is central to revenue generation. The company invests approximately $14 million annually in paid media and operates a sophisticated Salesforce ecosystem spanning Commerce Cloud, Experience Cloud, Data Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and core CRM.
The challenge isn't simply to implement more technology. It's to make the existing and emerging capabilities work together to generate revenue, improve conversion, accelerate delivery, and create a better experience for customers and internal teams.
With several major modernization initiatives underway—including digital storefront improvements, customer data and attribution, and marketing technology transformation—leadership needs a product executive who can bring commercial judgment, structure, and execution discipline while challenging assumptions and recommending better solutions.
The Role
Reporting directly to the CMO leading this transformation, you'll function as a trusted business partner with significant autonomy and responsibility for turning business strategy into a practical, executable technology roadmap.
You'll own the digital product experience from initial customer engagement through quoting, sales conversion, and operational handoff. The work crosses Marketing, Sales, Engineering, and Operations. Success requires understanding how these functions interact and how product decisions affect revenue, efficiency, and customer experience.
This is a hands-on leadership position. You'll be expected to get close enough to the platforms, workflows, and technical decisions to ask intelligent questions, challenge proposed solutions, and guide execution. You won't be expected to write production code.
The Team You'll Lead
The company is restructuring part of its technical delivery organization and moving engineering capacity from Eastern Europe into Latin America. You'll initially lead a dedicated nearshore pod of approximately 4–6 engineering and development professionals, with the opportunity to expand to 10–15 as the model matures.
You'll help establish how the team operates, set priorities, improve delivery quality, and build accountability. The objective is a capable, responsive team that understands the business and delivers solutions without unnecessary bureaucracy or dependence on outside vendors.
What You'll Own
• Digital product strategy and roadmap: Translate business objectives into prioritized initiatives that improve customer experience, conversion, revenue, and operational performance.
• End-to-end customer experience: Improve digital quoting, checkout, add-on services, sales handoffs, and customer communications, considering downstream workflows and edge cases.
• Marketing technology and commerce: Drive the effective use and evolution of Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Experience Cloud, Data Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and connected systems.
• Requirements and business analysis: Work directly with Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Engineering to uncover the real business requirements before solutions are designed or built.
• Execution and delivery: Lead the nearshore team, improve the speed and quality of delivery, manage competing priorities, and maintain accountability from concept through release.
• Data and revenue performance: Improve customer data reliability, marketing attribution, personalization, and the connection between acquisition spend and business outcomes.
• Cross-functional leadership: Influence senior stakeholders, challenge assumptions, resolve competing priorities, and bring teams together around commercially sound product decisions.
What We're Looking For
We're interested in a senior product leader who understands how businesses make money through digital channels and has the experience to convert that understanding into working solutions.
• Significant product management or product leadership experience in digital commerce, customer experience, revenue technology, or related environments.
• A demonstrated ability to take products or capabilities from concept through execution—not simply manage an established backlog.
• Strong business analysis skills and the discipline to investigate requirements, workflows, dependencies, and edge cases before committing engineering resources.
• Experience leading technical teams, ideally distributed or nearshore, and holding them accountable for delivery.
• An understanding of how demand generation connects to sales execution, customer experience, and operational outcomes.
• Enough technical fluency to work credibly with architects and developers, evaluate alternatives, and learn unfamiliar platforms quickly.
• Strong communication skills, executive presence, and the confidence to influence leaders across different business functions.
Salesforce experience is valuable, particularly across Commerce Cloud, Experience Cloud, Data Cloud, and Marketing Cloud, but deep expertise in every product is not necessary. The ability to understand complex systems, know the capabilities, ask the right questions, and develop sound solutions matters more.
Experience in a smaller, entrepreneurial, or scaling organization may be particularly relevant. Someone who has built systems, teams, or digital capabilities from the ground up could be an excellent fit.
Who This Is Not For
• A traditional project manager whose primary contribution is managing tickets, timelines, meetings, and status reports.
• A pure technology architect or developer who prefers the technical solution to the broader business problem.
• A marketing specialist whose experience ends at lead generation without understanding the sales and operational processes that follow.
• A high-level strategist who enjoys designing roadmaps but depends on others to work through requirements, details, and execution.
• Someone who needs substantial organizational infrastructure or multiple layers of approval to make progress.
This role calls for a mature, commercially minded operator who can bring structure without sacrificing speed.
Location and Work Authorization
The preferred candidate is based in the Chicago metropolitan area and can work approximately three days per week in Schaumburg.
Remote candidates elsewhere in the United States may be considered if they have professional proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese to support leadership of the Latin American team.
Candidates must currently reside in the United States and be legally authorized to work in the U.S. Strong professional English communication skills are required.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
You'll have meaningful ownership, executive access, an established technology investment, and the opportunity to build a team that can make a visible difference to the business.
This isn't a role where you'll spend your time selling ideas that never get funded. There is executive commitment, budget, and a clear need for someone who can turn business ambition into dependable execution.
If you've built digital products that drive revenue, can lead technical teams without losing sight of the customer, and enjoy solving problems that span departments, this is worth a conversation.
